I first fell in love with hip-hop when I heard LL Cool J’s “Jingling Baby” playing on the radio. Reciting the chorus to the Geto Boys’ “Mind Playing Tricks on Me” was the highlight of any car ride. Fast forward to 1994 and I vividly remember playing Bone-Thugs-N-Harmony’s “Thuggish Ruggish Bone” until the cassette tape unraveled. These moments defined my childhood, created memories and inspired me to step into the realm of photojournalism. I also decided then that I would start concepting Subjective Evaluation, a blog that focuses on the positive aspects of the genre. It gives my heart pleasure to finally find a passion that opens my soul to be inspired and to hopefully inspire in return. – RM
